BVE Fifth Grade Creates Butterfly Way Station

The Monarch butterfly population feeds on milkweed during their annual migration from Mexico to the United States.  This primary source of food for the traveling butterfly is declining, and so is the Monarch population.  The Fifth Grade and AIM classes at Burton Valley worked along side our fabulous Master Gardener, Kim Curiel, to create a Butterfly Way-Station to help the Butterflies on their journey.

Starting with more than 1,000 milkweed seeds, students spent time planting and tending to the milkweed seeds in the Garden’s hothouse, waiting for them to sprout.  Once the seedlings were ready, kids spent an afternoon planting and watering their new Butterfly Way-Station.  Now we wait.  Come-on Monarchs!  Breakfast is ready!

Check out the slide show of BVE students planting seedlings!

LPIE Power Party - A Huge Success!

On Saturday, March 14th parents and supporters from all over the community came together to help "power" LPIE's fundraising efforts, and the result was an overwhelming success. The party itself was fantastic: excellent food and drinks, decorations that transformed the venue, and top-notch socializing! And the best news? With the amazing donations of auction items, services, vacation homes, pay-to-play parties and more, we were able to exceed our fundraising goals for the event, raising over $110,000 and still counting!

You Can Be A Part of the Power!

A limited number of Pay-To-Play Parties are still available, but hurry....they are going fast!
