Summer Reading
LAFSD Summer Reading Challenge
We're so excited for the NEW LAFSD Summer Reading Challenge to begin!
We love reading no matter what time of year but, Summer is special. Why?
Because you can:
- Read long or short books
- Try a new book or genre
- Explore new areas in your own backyard or far away (even another galaxy)
- Learn about people
- Use different formats - paperback, hardback, e-book or audiobook
We can't wait to hear about all the New books you have read and discovered.
We're always looking for great recommendations.
Not Just Summer Reading
We have created a NEW Padlet (an electronic bulletin board) that contains the NEW LAFSD Summer Reading Challenge and Readers Advisory resources for you and your readers.
Also (and this is so much fun and exciting) we have access to Capstone Interactive Library for the Summer.
Students, parents and teachers are welcome to use Capstone Interactive Library over the Summer.
From the publisher:
"Capstone Publishers is your partner in helping children discover the joy of reading. We offer a family of children's book companies that publish nonfiction, fiction, picture books, interactive and audio books, databases and literacy programs for students pre-K to high school. Through Capstone Press, Compass Point Books, Heinemann-Raintree, Picture Window Books, Stone Arch Books and Red Brick Learning, we provide the most compelling and relevant reading materials for emergent, striving and reluctant readers, and ESL students."
